Perspective Test #02 - Chris Helcoop, Photograph, 2012
Another perspective test. Not sure what I think about this though; it shows disequilibrium.

Perspective Test #01 - Chris Helcoop, Photograph, 2012
Test idea for a project. Perspective fascinates me. Let me know if you like it!

A recent image that I made in response to a University brief. There are a couple more images from this project on my website, www.chrishelcoop.co.uk
Here’s a playful test image that I created for my recent project. I decided to ‘melt’ a chair, a bit like how Dali treated the objects in his paintings.
Another shot plan for the Tapping The Source project. The final image changed only fractionally to this one.
You should be able to find the final image on my site www.chrishelcoop.co.uk.
PS: I’m contemplating creating a ‘Concept Design’ page on my site, full of drawings and shot plans… A little unsure of the benefits of this though.
Managed to pick up an old issue of Contemporary Visual Arts yesterday for 10p. I leafed through it quickly and found a short essay about Constructed Photography in the 90s. I haven’t read it just yet, but I’m sure it’ll be a good read.
It’s really weird to play with form and shape. Photoshop was only used to extract the van from the original image, the perspective-warping is in-camera.
Here’s a shot plan for my current (almost finished) project. It shows a fridge in a rundown kitchen. There are bullet holes alongside it.
This is the only shot plan that hasn’t really changed compared to the final image.
Here’s a test image from a few days ago. The project is progressing really well, but it’s slow and steady. I will have more furniture in the final shots, rather than just a dresser - this’ll make the narrative more apparent too. Let me know what you think, please!
Having the easter holidays in the middle of my project hasn’t been useful. I’ve lost confidence and motivation, through doing half-arsed shoots, or even doing nothing at all… My parent’s house really isn’t a good working environment for me.
On the other hand, I’ve managed to get really stuck-into my essay and have written about 2100 words. Only about 600 more to go and I’ll be finished! It’s weird to say I’ve enjoyed writing it…
